Role Description

Title: Housekeeper MSJC FLSA: Non-Exempt

Status: Part time

General Summary: Under the supervision of the Sister Administrator, employee is required to maintain the overall appearance of the Convent. Employee must provide high quality service in a cheerful, timely manner by appropriately communicating with residents and staff.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general housekeeping duties as outlined in daily, weekly and/or annual cleaning schedule, such as, but not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and dusting furnishings and fixtures in assigned areas, including but not limited to, Sisters’ rooms and common areas.
• Clean assigned bathrooms and disinfects all fixtures and floors as directed. Wash mirrors and replenish bathroom supplies as needed.
• Responsible for removal of trash daily from assigned areas.
• Move and/or rearrange furniture, as needed throughout Convent and in preparation of various activities or meetings.
• Perform emergency housekeeping duties, when necessary or accidents occur.
• Report supply, and equipment needs to Supervisor for replenishing.
• Maintain equipment used in performing duties properly and keep equipment, and area cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
• Perform other duties as requested by Administration.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Commitment to the Mission of the Sisters of St. John and to the elderly Sisters.
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions and to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory, and a minimum of two years related work experience required.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, you are frequently required to walk, stand and lift; use hands and fingers, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. You are also occasionally required to sit. You must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; stretch arms above head; bend to clean under furniture and are on your feet most of the workday. You must be authorized to work in the Unites States.

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.00 per week
